About Sterling Classics
"Sterling Classics was founded out of pure passion for vintage cars and the desire to let as many people as possible enjoy their classic vehicles or vessels. We strive to provide a solution without hassle in the event of setbacks, with a central point of contact that is honest and transparent, without sky-high prices and an overcrowded agenda."
My story: Robert van de Riet
From my childhood, we worked on our cars, boats and mopeds at home. There was a Volvo P1800E from 1970 under the carport. A car with one of the most beautiful designs from the 60s/70s, sleek lines and subtle wings at the back. These types of cars are rapidly increasing in value these days. My passion was ignited by this classic. So after obtaining my moped license I bought a classic Honda C50 from 1974. This was followed by an SS50 and later a C50, all of which were lovingly restored.

Over time it came to light that the Volvo, originally from America, had been involved in an accident. A new front was welded from the bulkhead, from a Volvo P1800ES. A "cut and shut" is strictly prohibited in Europe, as technical integrity is seriously compromised. Later it turned out that this could be recognized by square instead of oval holes where the bumper was mounted. The body was warped, and a restoration seemed like a lost cause.

This has always left a bad taste, especially because it could have been prevented at the time of purchase.

The car was sold for a symbolic amount and the next classic car was not purchased. Nevertheless, the passion remained. When choosing a study, the IVA Automotive Business School was chosen. After which I found my first ''big people'' job at Volvo Nieuwenhuijse. Followed by an internship at The Gallery Aaldering, known from RTL Autowereld and known worldwide for their enormous collection of exclusive vintage cars.

After years of renovating all kinds of projects during weekends and holidays, I decided to do this for others in 2021. The demand grew steadily so I decided to become more active under the name "Sterling Classics". A place born from passion for people with passion, a one-stop shop for all vehicle brands. No fuss or quotes on a sheet of paper that will hurt you. Together with our team we look for solutions, and you become part of the process.
